  • World Soil Day is celebrated every year on December 5 by regional offices and national and local events at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters in Rome.
    • The United Nations General Assembly decided to celebrate International Volunteer Day in December 1985. The General Assembly passed a resolution and announced the celebration of 5th December every year as International Volunteer Day. International Voluntary Day of the United Nations was celebrated by the United Nations in 2001.
    • After the division of fixed assets of the family, the Bihar government has fixed Rs 100 for people to register their property.
    • Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has approved a grant of Rs 50 lakh to the UGC and Rs. 50 crore for science and technology innovation (STI) to provide assistance to the AICTE recognized central and state universities and colleges.

    • The United States has re-established "permanent diplomatic presence" for the first time in 27 years in Somalia.
